Dr. Reali-Sorrell, is the enterprise nurse manager for Cleveland Clinic’s forensic nursing program. She began her career at the Cleveland Clinic 24 years ago and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience from many different disciplines of nursing including intensive care, emergency medicine, ambulatory care, community outreach, trauma, primary prevention training, and nursing instructor.
Under her leadership as a content expert in forensic nursing, Michele and her team of 50 nurses have implemented many new and innovative changes to the Cleveland Clinics forensic program including increased community awareness of forensic nursing services, 24/7 on-call coverage, and traveling to patients for forensic care across Northeast Ohio, implementation of a clinical skills simulation training through the IAFN, and most recently, the forensic nursing follow up clinic designed using trauma informed principles that offer an extended office visit with an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner, a case manager and a victim advocate. Patients may select to follow up remotely (tele-medicine) if transportation is a barrier.
On a monthly-basis, this six-part digital series will delve into perspectives from patients, caregivers and leaders from across the healthcare industry to address changing implications for empathetic care.
