As a graduate from Saginaw Valley State University with a BSN in 2009, I began working at St. Mary's of Michigan in the trauma intensive care unit immediately after graduation. In 2012 I joined Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, Michigan as a nursing supervisor and a float nurse. I accepted a position as the manager of the Emergency Department at Memorial in July of 2015 and maintained that role until January of 2019 when I accepted a new position at Memorial as the Director of Patient Care Services. I recently completed the required graduate level coursework and earned an MBA from Western Governors University in November 2018.
Session attendees will learn how a 24-bed, level 3 trauma center in Michigan implemented key strategies to overcome barriers and implement positive change within the emergency department. The session's presenters will provide an overview of how management commitment, from the hospital C-suite to the ED medical director, must be in place to hold all accountable for an optimized patient experience. Outcomes achieved: Increased patient experience scores, increased employee engagement, reduced LWOBS, reduced wait times.
